A fashion saga
Collection "ODA" by George Bezhanishvili is a descent into the clothing tradition of the Caucasus. The fashion designer creates a collage of pictorial references that have both a romantic and warrior spirit. One mixes soft and rigid textiles giving shape to garments that resemble caftans, a typically Arab piece of clothing, with metallic belts on the waist inspired by the graphic cages of Roman tailor Luigi Branchini.
The colors of "ODA" are soaked in luminous hues from the paintings of Jean-Léon Gérôme, but also in the rebellious romanticism of painter Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy-Trioson’s black and white.
In George Bezhanishvili’s moodboard we discover other pieces of imagery that all have a common Oriental origin: complex motifs from Persian carpets, antique photographs of proud Georgian soldiers, golden bracelets and fluid draping.
The fashion designer succeeds in combining each element into pieces that, though different from one another, all evoke a sense of courage, a combative spirit and a timeless virility.
