LACK OF INNOVATION

Steve Wozniak Slams Microsoft for Lack of Innovation

Steve Wozniak Slams Microsoft for Lack of Innovation
In a recent interview with the BBC, Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak said that Microsoft has been "resting on" markets it built a "long, long time ago."

Wozniak also added that Steve Ballmer's time as chief executive was not as significant as Bill Gates's time at the helm of Microsoft. He said that rival Microsoft has been falling for quite some time and that Microsoft's innovation is lacking. In his opinion, Microsoft has been resting on its existing markets, and putting itself in a dangerous situation. When asked about Apple following the same trends, Wozniak said that Apple has remained nimble and innovative while its competitors have not. To those who have been criticizing Apple's progress, Wozniak said, "great advances for mankind don't happen every year."

Not surprisingly, Wozniak had all positive things to say about Apple and its current status. He praised Apple's current chief executive, Tim Cook, and said that Steve Jobs "more-or-less" hand-picked Cook for the position. He said, "Steve Jobs had very strong feelings about what makes a company great, what makes products great." In regard to the competition, Wozniak said that it has been tough for Apple to take on Samsung, especially in emerging markets. "Samsung had great marketing prowess," he added. "They also had distribution channels in so many markets of the world that Apple was not in." But a little competition has not scared Apple away from becoming a major player in the technology world. Wozniak summed up this competitive drive, "It is going to be a fight for Apple and a worthy fight."
